Do Not Have Faith in the Weatherman!

Keeping your guests dry in the rain, cool in the heat, and warm in the cold should be a top priority for outdoor weddings. The weather can be a fickle beast and, a fast track to a disastrous ceremony is uncomfortable conditions . Another aspect of the weather that is often overlooked is the wind. Light fabrics like chiffon and silk in your dress could become a mess in the wind. Tell your hair stylist that you will be having an outdoor wedding so she/he can plan a style.

Consider the Time of Your Ceremony.

Fall outdoor weddings are gorgeous! Fall days can often times be on the chilly side so plan for your ceremony to be midday to avoid the evening time chills. Consider where the sun will be. Hot blazing sun can equal a disaster for your outdoor wedding ceremony. Not only will you and your guests be roasting, your wedding photos and video will suffer too. High direct sunlight translates to hard ugly shadows and something referred to as raccoon eyes in the photography industry. Direct sunlight also causes you to squint which never makes for appealing photos. If possible check out the venue around the time which your ceremony will take place.

Confirm That Your Venue Has an Indoor Backup Plan.

Storm clouds looming the day of your outdoor wedding ceremony? Leave nothing to assumption and discuss the possibility of a rained out ceremony with your wedding planner or venue operator. Although the venue may have an indoor reception hall, this does not mean that they can adequately host the ceremony indoors. Being stuck with a last minute indoor wedding without an aisle or alter can be a big wedding day faux pas.

Notify All Affiliated Parties That the Ceremony Will Be Held Outdoors.

Be sure to notify everyone involved that you will be having an outdoor wedding ceremony. Leave a small note on the invitations so your guests can be better prepared in case there is inclement weather. Also, do not forget to let your photographer, videographer, and even DJ know that part of the wedding will be held outdoors.
